Twin mattresses (39” x 75”): are typically designed to accommodate one child or one adult sleeper. Should you need to lay with your child, it should okay, but may be a little bit crowded. Twins (also known as a “single”) are great for use in smaller guest spaces, with bunkbeds, and also with daybeds.

Full size mattress (54” x 75”), also known as a ‘double or standard’, was commonly used for two adults 30+ years ago when the homes and subsequently it’s bedrooms were designed much smaller. Now it is usually purchased for a single person use and sometimes for use with smaller guest rooms. It is a tight fit for two adults. A full also measures the same length as a twin. Two adults sleeping on a full size is equivalent to each person sleeping on a crib mattress (27 inches of sleep space). Most couples opt for the larger queen sized mattress.
